Please Disturb
From check in to check out, I use the motel room as a studio. Guests visit me in two-hour blocks in part studio visit and part photo shoot. Within a space that is both intimate and impersonal, my guests and I talk and collaborate on the images we will make. Each session creates unique images and are a product of concocted stories, shared memories and crossed physical and psychological boundaries.
Every motel has its own personality and vibe, just as its temporary inhabitants, and I am interested in the intersection of place, performance and play.
The first phase of the series took place at the Tahitian Inn in Tampa over two days in June 2015. I continue to process images from the shoot and will be posting more here. Future Please Disturb sessions are in the works and will take place at different motels.
